What Information Is Needed for a Custom Pin Quote?
A checklist of the exact specifications that turn a vague inquiry into an accurate quotation.
The fastest way to get a usable pin quotation is to send the same information a factory would ask for. Here is the checklist.
Essential Information
- Product type: enamel pin (soft/hard), printed, or die-struck
- Size in mm and shape (or attach artwork)
- Estimated quantity (e.g. 300 / 1000 / 5000 — pricing tiers differ)
- Destination country (affects shipping cost and method)
- Deadline if any
Specification Details
- Coloring process: soft enamel, hard enamel or printed
- Plating: gold, silver, nickel, antique, black nickel, matte
- Pantone color references for enamel
- Attachment: butterfly, rubber, magnet, safety pin
- Extras: epoxy, glitter, glow, cutouts
- Packaging: poly bag, card backing, box
Why Quantity Ranges Matter
Pin pricing is heavily tiered: tooling is a fixed cost, and unit cost drops steeply as volume rises. Quoting "300 pieces" vs "5000 pieces" produces completely different numbers. If you are unsure, give two or three quantity scenarios and ask for tiered pricing.
Artwork Status
Tell the supplier whether you have final vector artwork, a draft, or just an idea. Final vectors enable exact quoting; ideas require a design phase, which may carry a design fee and a different timeline.
What You Should Expect Back
A complete quotation states unit price per quantity tier, tooling/mold fee, sample cost (if applicable), production time, shipping options and validity period. If a quote is missing these, ask — incomparable quotes are how buyers overpay.
